Virginia Tech Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
Mon, 18 Aug 2008 23:13:57 PDT-

Virginia Tech must replace 12 starters, among them eight NFL Draft picks, and a kicker from last year's ACC championship team. It still hasn't resolved its quarterback competition between fifth-year senior Sean Glennon and sophomore Tyrod Taylor. Its schedule includes daunting road games against Nebraska, Florida State, Boston College and Miami.

Yet the Hokies are still a solid bet to return to the ACC title game as Coastal Division champions. A big reason for that is a weak divisional lineup. Moreover, the Hokies are teeming with unproven talent at every position. With a little seasoning, this young team could be very good this season.

With both quarterbacks returning, each of which contributed down the stretch last season, and a strong offensive line that boasts four...

Virginia Tech Strategy and Personnel
Tue, 19 Aug 2008 03:20:07 GMT- HEAD COACH: Frank Beamer, 22nd year, 167-85-2 MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER: QB Sean Glennon -- His leadership on and off the field is invaluable. Even if he doesn't earn the starting job this preseason, the Hokies are going to need him. They needed him last year, even after he lost his starting job to Tyrod Taylor, and he helped lead them to an ACC championship. BREAKOUT STAR: FS Kam Chancellor -- At 6-foot-4 and 224 pounds, he might be the most physically imposing free safety in the country.
