Virginia Tech Football Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
Tue, 18 Nov 2008 22:32:04 PST-

Some of Virginia Tech's players couldn't tell you the ACC's tiebreaker procedures, but all of them know a Miami loss Thursday night at Georgia Tech would put them right back in the thick of the Coastal Division race.

If the Hurricanes lose, the Hokies would need to win their final two games—against Duke and Virginia at home—to make it to the Dec. 6 ACC championship in Tampa. If Miami wins, it will represent the Coastal in the title game.

"Sometimes seasons are everything you want them to be and sometimes, you get faced with a little bit of adversity and kind of depend on other people to help you out in certain situations. That's been the case before where we helped people out.

Miami takes over 1st in ACC Coastal (AP)

Miami's Matt Bosher watches his third field goal of an NCAA college football game against Virginia Tech Football on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, in Miami. Miami won 16-14.

Shortly after the final play, Miami's seniors gathered at midfield for a group picture, representing their final moments together on the Hurricanes' home turf. They might have to do it again on New Year's Night. Improbable as it seemed a month ago, the Hurricanes are very much in the hunt for an Orange Bowl berth.

Virginia Tech Football Notes, Quotes
Wed, 19 Nov 2008 05:00:17 GMT- SCOUTING THE OFFENSE: The Hokies have been the epitome of conservative this season. Well, mostly conservative. They run the ball nearly 70 percent of the time, despite having a fifth-year senior quarterback in Sean Glennon, who was benched earlier this season in favor of a bigger run threat in Tyrod Taylor. Tech hasn't avoided all risks, however. It has attempted an unusually high number of fourth down conversions.

Virginia Tech Football Strategy and Personnel
Wed, 19 Nov 2008 05:00:17 GMT- THIS WEEK'S GAME: Duke at Virginia Tech, Nov. 22 -- The Hokies are home for the rest of the regular season, which is a welcome sign for the road-weary team. They're 4-0 at Lane Stadium this season and 2-4 everywhere else. They face a resurgent Duke team that has won as many games this season (four) under first-year head coach David Cutcliffe as in the four previous seasons combined.

Virginia Tech Football Inside Slant

Cardinals Continue to Play on Proving Ground
Tue, 18 Nov 2008 16:15:57 GMT-When a team has enjoyed only one winning season in 20 years and it hasn't won a division title in 33 years, every game becomes a proving ground. That's what the Cardinals have faced this year. Whether it was trying to win on the East Coast, or beating a good team at home, or winning in Seattle, or winning three straight for the first time in 2002, every game has presented challenges.
